Villa Santina Covered Riding Arena
Set within the protected landscape of the Pineta di Villa Santina, in the province of Udine, this covered riding arena was designed for the Municipality of Villa Santina. The project brings together equestrian activity and a sensitive natural setting through an open structure that maintains visual continuity with the surrounding woodland.
A timber lattice roof rests on concrete columns, with branching diagonal members recalling the geometry of the nearby trees. The interplay between slender timber elements and solid concrete supports gives the canopy a distinctive architectural identity, while the exposed structural framework defines the space beneath it.
The open sides preserve views towards the pine forest and mountains, allowing the arena to remain closely connected to its surroundings. Within this environmentally protected setting, the architecture provides shelter while retaining the openness and character of the landscape.
